Computer Recycling FAQ

Want to use a computer recycling service but need some more information? You can of course call or email and we will be happy to help. Alternatively, and in the first instance, please check some of our frequently asked questions regarding our computer recycling service below

Do you service Households as well as businesses?

Our collection service is only available to Businesses, Schools, Health Care and other organisations and is completely free of charge. Households and Individuals can only use our drop off service.

Do I have to have a minimum qty of items before you will collect?

No, not at all, although you must have a minimum of 5 Desktop Computers, Laptops, Monitors (or any combination of the three) in order to qualify for a free collection. The best thing to do is submit your collection request then we can seee where you are, what you want us to collect and then we can discuss the details with you and organise your collection from there. There is one exception to this though which is printers.  We will not collect from any customer just printers.  If you have printers to collect, they must be collected with other items such as computers, laptops or monitors.

If you won't collect, do you have a drop off service?

Yes. bring your equipment along between 10am and 3pm, Monday to Friday and we will do the rest. If you are thinking of bringing more that 10 items, please telephone us first on 01293 731222 in order to book in your drop off. We currently only operate this service in Godstone, Surrey.

What do you do with the items you have collected?

All items collected are assessed, then stripped down, repaired and then refurbished. Nothing, and we do mean nothing, goes to landfill or gets thrown away. When sold, profits from the resale of this euipment are donated to UK Charity.

Do you destroy my data on computers, laptops, tablets and phones?

Yes. Our complete data wiping service is an integral part of the process. Once any item that has been collected gets back to our warehouse, it is searched for data bearing media such as hard drives, SSD's, DVD's etc. If found, any media goes directly to our data processing station and is erased using the very latest media sanitising process. This service is registered with the .ICO, conforms to GDPR standards and is fully insured.

Do we get certificates to confirm the data wiping?

Yes. Each customer has access to our customer portal which shows every single piece of hardware collected from you. If we find data bearing media inside any of this hardware, it is identified on your portal. When the devices have been data sanitised, you will be able to use the portal to view, print and download all certificates which are produced for each device individually.

What if my equipment no longer works?

Providing it is still in one piece, we will still offer you a free collection service. We are not a scrap metal dealer but a product refurbishing company. Whilst we are registered as a Waste Carrier with the environment Agency and can provide companies with waste transfer notes, we don't take smashed and physically broken equipment. However, if it just simply does not work, has marks or damage to the case, or is just in poor condition, then that is fine.
